Israel-Hamas War X: Where are those Innocent Gazans?

I’m still waiting for someone to point me to truly innocent Gazans, those who, while maybe not happy about it, are willing to “let” Israel live alongside it as a sovereign Jewish state. You know, the ones who reject Hamas ideology.

I doubt an innocent civilian Gazan is to be found in the crowd cheering in the “X” post below — as Hamas lights its own kind of “fire crackers” and launches them toward the skies of central and southern Israel to mark the New Year.

We don’t want to believe controversial anti-Islamic activist Brigitte Gabriel, do we? A Maronite Christian from Lebanon, surely she is biased against the Moslems who attacked her village when she was a child. She equates the entire civilian population in Gaza as Hamas.

Maybe we can understand how Mia Schem would say all Gazan civilians are Hamas (here) as she was held in inhumane conditions in the home of a Gazan family.for 54 days. She tells of being held in a tiny room alone with a terrorist for 24/7, not allowed to cry or talk or move on threat of being sent to the tunnels, afraid he would rape her or kill her, His kids would open the door and look at her and laugh at her. She was unable to sleep with the terrorist watching over her. She could hear the Israeli strikes and that did not scare her.

Suddenly, it all went quiet and she understood something had changed. That was when the temporary ceasefire began and she was moved to another place, joining other hostages, all waiting for their turn to go home.

On her way to the checkpoint, she had a camera shoved in her face and was told to say how kind the Gazans were to her.

What about the family that watched over Doron and her daughters?

Former hostage, Doron Katz-Asher who was held in Gaza with her daughters ages five and two, shares their story. When they were abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz, Doron was shot in the back. She was taken to an apartment in Gaza where surgery was done on her on the couch, without anesthetic, and as her young daughters watched.

In the days that followed, they were guarded by a Gazan family. The father spoke Hebrew because he used to work in Israel. After two weeks, they were moved to a hospital where they were kept for over a month with seven other hostages. There was barely any food, and whatever they were given, she mostly gave to the children.

Doron and her daughters are back in Israel now, but the girls still speak about the horrors.

And what can we say about the doctor who refused to treat Ofilia Roitma’s gunshot wound because she is a Jew, or about the couple who held her and barely fed her in spite of having a lot to each themselves?

While I wouldn’t use the colourful language Aviva Klompas uses, she does make a reasonable point.

And  the men dragging this hostage off to wherever they will hold her captive? Are any of them wearing a uniform?

Now listen to this short interview to see the fortitude and resilience of our people. Moran Stela Yanai showed amazing resourcefulness in coping with the inhumane conditions of her captivity.

But note, as well, that she says people were invited to see what they had caught. Who among those people were innocent Gazan civilians?

As I was saying, can you find any innocent Gazans here? Calling out ‘Death to Israel’ and praying for the martyrs….

While the parade in the following post took place two years ago, is there evidence of innocent Gazans who do not agree with Hamas’s goals?

When I see someone reject the Hamas dogma, then I will see an innocent Gazan. Problem is, do I believe that person did not support Hamas before we rendered Gaza uninhabitable? Not really. Do I believe that, if an Israeli who helped Gazans and then experienced the incredible betrayal of Oct 7th can recognize that the Gazans are not our friends, can a Gazan have second thoughts and recognize the fact that Israelis can be their friends or at least neighbours? I doubt it.

So I’m still looking for an innocent Gazan. Maybe it is that innocent child who can still be re-educated/de-Nazified. Maybe.
